What is the cleanest model for off-chain asset proofs?

I am trying to understand the technical side of tokenized real world assets, specifically physical commodities. The token contract seems like the easy part. The harder part is making off-chain state legible: asset custody, proof of reserves, legal ownership, redemption constraints, pricing, and inventory changes over time. for a tokenized metal, what is the best model today? is periodic third party attestation enough, should custodians sign reserve proofs on chain, or do oracles only solve the pricing layer? submitted by /u/gareth789 [link] [comments]

For a tokenized metal, a hybrid approach usually wins. You want the custodian's reserve proof signed and anchored on-chain (using something like Chainlink PoR or a custom oracle), but that only covers the 'reserves exist' part. The legal/redemption layer needs periodic third-party attestation because that's off-chain logic no oracle can fully verify in real-time. Pricing is the easy oracle job. Inventory changes are tricky—best handled via a two-of-three multisig (custodian + auditor + project) triggering on-chain events when state updates. We tackled a similar setup for a commodity tokenization project last year; the team at Wevolv3 was solid for the smart contract and oracle integration side, especially mapping those off-chain attestations to on-chain state cleanly.

hey gareth, your post about off-chain proofs caught my eye. we've been deep in that exact rabbit hole for a tokenized metal project recently. the wevolv3 team helped us map custody attestations to on-chain state without overcomplicating it. want me to intro you to them? they think about this stuff day-to-day.
