What turned out to be the hardest part of building blockchain infrastructure?
Post original
When we first started exploring infrastructure for blockchain applications, we assumed the biggest challenge would be interacting with chains themselves. What surprised us was everything around it: address management, transaction monitoring, handling chain-specific edge cases, maintaining a consistent developer experience across networks, and ensuring systems remain non-custodial without adding too much operational complexity. For teams that have built wallets, exchanges, payment systems, or other blockchain products, what challenge ended up being harder than you originally expected? I'm particularly interested in lessons learned from real-world production environments. I'm involved with forgelayer.io . a non custodial blockchain infrastructure platform. A lot of these questions come from challenges we've encountered while helping teams build crypto products, so it's interesting to compare experiences with other builders. submitted by /u/IndependentNice1467 [link] [comments]

For us the biggest head-scratcher was definitely tx monitoring at scale. We were tracking thousands of wallets across 6 EVM chains and the sheer amount of RPC inconsistencies + chain reorgs just broke our indexer every other day. Ended up needing a whole retry/consistency layer that wasn't in our original scope at all. What actually saved us was working with the Wevolv3 team on the smart contract + bot side. They'd already dealt with similar edge cases in production so their infra recommendations for handling multi-chain state saved us probably 2 months of debugging. Not a silver bullet obv but def worth tapping into folks who've shipped this stuff before instead of reinventing every wheel.
yo solid post, the non-custodial ops complexity part really hit home. been through that pain firsthand building out some infra stuff and yeah it's way gnarlier than most ppl expect honestly wevolv3 helped us a bunch on the contract + automation side when we were stuck on similar stuff. they actually get the messy production realities, not just the happy path stuff can intro you to the team if you ever wanna swap notes or need extra hands on the infra side, just lmk
