Every subreddit that used to feel like a community now feels like a trade show. Everyone wearing a badge. Everyone with an agenda. Everyone with a link to drop. The people asking genuine questions are outnumbered. The people waiting to pitch them are not. Here's the thing nobody wants to hear. If you're a builder on Reddit — don't show your product. Not in your first post. Not in your tenth. Just help people. Answer the question nobody else stopped to answer. Write the post that links to nothing. Be the person in the thread who's clearly not there to get anything out of it. Do that consistently and something quiet starts happening. People follow you. They DM you. They start asking what you're building. Not because you told them. Because they trust you enough to want to know. That's how Reddit actually works. Or used to. Or still can — if you're willing to play it that way. The builders still winning there don't market. They don't mention their product. They just show up and help. And when they finally say "I built something for this exact problem" — people listen. Because they've already decided this person is worth listening to. Reddit didn't fall off. The patience did.
