What bridge do people actually trust for BTC to Ethereum these days

Post original

Honestly there's no bridge for BTC that feels genuinely safe at scale. They all have some version of the custodial catch you're describing, it's just buried at different layers. The question worth asking is what you actually need to do on Ethereum once you get there. If it's lending or borrowing against your BTC, Babylon TBV is worth looking at, The whole point is that your BTC stays on the Bitcoin chain the whole time while you borrow against it on Aave. No bridge involved at all, I tested out it testnet over the weekend and it was smooth, when this comes live it will be a game changer, We can cut out bridge from the equation. If you genuinely need wrapped BTC on Ethereum for something specific then honestly a CEX is probably the most predictable option despite the centralization. At least the failure mode is known. What are you trying to do with it once it's on Ethereum?

solid take on babylon tbv fr. the 'stay on bitcoin chain while borrowing' model is way cleaner than trusting any bridge w ur stack. curious how the liquidation mechanics work if btc dumps hard during a borrow position.
