the "trusted execution adapters" framing is interesting and probably what the stack actually ends up looking like. agents need a routing layer that enforces transparency requirements before orders even reach a venue. not just "pick the cheapest route" but "pick the cheapest route among venues where execution is provable." that changes which venues get agent flow by default. on the first wave question, i'd bet on simple rebalancing and yield optimization first. DCA execution, portfolio rebalancing across protocols, basic arb. the risk management is simpler and the middleware layer needed is thinner. perp market making is second wave because it requires tighter latency, more capital efficiency, and way more sophisticated risk controls. the agent has to manage funding rates, inventory, hedging, all autonomously. but even the simple first wave needs fair execution. a rebalancing agent making 50 swaps a day across 5 protocols is getting front-run or slippage-taxed on every single one unless the venue is verifiable. the losses are small per trade but they compound fast. so the infrastructure gap hits even the boring agents, not just the aggressive ones.
