shipped less than I planned and that turned out fine

Post original

This week I had a whole list of features I was going to add to my side project and I got through maybe a third of it. A month ago that would have wrecked me, but I'm slowly learning the list was always more about feeling productive than actually mattering to anyone using the thing. Instead of grinding through the backlog I spent two evenings just watching how the handful of early users actually moved through the app, and it was humbling. The feature I was most proud of barely got touched, and a tiny rough corner I almost cut was the thing people kept coming back to. So I threw out half the roadmap and rebuilt that one corner properly. The honest lesson for me is that motion isn't progress. Shipping ten things nobody asked for feels great and moves nothing. I'd rather end a week having shipped one thing that a real person actually noticed. submitted by /u/Successful_Novel5614 [link] [comments]
