CEO looking for seed money after the plans got destroyed by US government shutdown and other BS, how hard is it now? [I will not promote]

Now that you've mentally stepped out, without having burned any bridges or communicated anything yet, you can take in that he and this project is a potential asset. The question is just how, and if, you can leverage it to your advantage. The fact remains that you need to get to a positive cashflow asap. But when you present that it doesn't have to be "and therefore I quit your failed project", rather it can be more open-ended. "Do we pause my operative work, could there be money available, or maybe you know someone else that need my services to cover my financial requirements?" You still need that hardline attitude where it's a healthy and regular amount of money coming your way, to fix this problem rather than just slowly keep the pain and suffering going. But you can open up for a more collaborative solution, that's in your favor. If you for instance stay connected to the project by being available for advice, rather than operative work, then that title should be made official and be up there on the website and LinkedIn. So you at least can use that as fancy CV padding. That would be your "payment" for getting on a call every now and then. Things like that. Be creative. It's no longer free work (practically making you an investor, without any chance of making a profit out of your investment), it's a potential asset, that you are exploring ways to leverage.
