I shipped v2.0 of my AI Dictionary extension — users asked, I built it
Post original
I launched AI Dictionary a few months back — a Chrome extension that lets you right-click any word and get a context-aware AI definition without leaving the page. The initial reception was better than expected, and several users left detailed feedback in the comments and via DM. v2.0 is basically me building exactly what they asked for. What's new: Popup now appears next to your cursor instead of bottom-right corner. Obvious in hindsight — bottom-right is where you're not looking Autoclosure timer bar — you can see how long you have before the popup closes, hover to pause it Improved context-awareness — the AI now finds the canonical meaning first, then uses page context to disambiguate. Much better on generic pages Definition depth control — choose Concise, Detailed, or In-depth per your reading mode, saved in the extension popup Subscription status visible in the extension — tier, usage counter, reset date, all in one click One of the feedback points was from a paying Lifetime user who said "I just want a quick gloss, not an essay." That's what depth levels are for. Free tier is still 20 definitions/month. Pro and Lifetime unchanged. Happy to answer questions or hear what else is broken. https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/ai-dictionary-%E2%80%93-right-cli/cgkmonohmdkcbjbfnhigldhamagclmag submitted by /u/WKFTeam [link] [comments]
