Yes, I would push users to the paid plans more aggressively. You have a decent amount of users, but like you said, the conversion rate is bad. I recommend trying to chat with a few to see what is the problem for why they’re not converting. Another thing you can try is doing tests for subsets of users, where you hide different feature behind a paywall. That way you can see what helps with the conversion rate the most. I’m guessing you’re giving away too much for free. You can also try to give users the premium version for a few weeks, then downgrade to the free version. That will help them see what they’re missing. Also, you’re selling to students who usually don’t have much money. i recommend selling to businesses, if possible. Can you pivot to that? Businesses have a lot more money to spend on tools if it saves them money. Businesses don’t mind spending $200/mo or more on a tool. Also, lifetime subscriptions are bad. I would get rid of that immediately. They will hurt you if you ever sell the business. Source: started and recently sold a B2B SaaS company
