I just started a newsletter to force myself to learn marketing as an engineering problem
Post original
Hey everyone, I am primarily a frontend developer now shifting towards the backend with Elixir and Phoenix. Building products feels natural to me, but marketing has always felt vague and uncomfortable. I also have a massive mental block about personal exposure on platforms like LinkedIn or Twitter because I value my privacy. To break through this paralysis and force myself to learn distribution, I just launched a Substack newsletter called BecomeFounder. My goal is to stop treating marketing as an art form and start treating it as a deterministic engineering system. I want to learn and document how to scale a project with these constraints: Zero ad budget (purely organic growth). Total privacy (a faceless strategy with no personal branding). Automating distribution using programmatic workflows and tools. I will be documenting everything in public: from the marketing experiments I run and the automation scripts I build, to raw newsletter metrics, UI/UX conversion mistakes, and technical setups. To kick things off, I just created a systems-driven Launch Checklist to help other devs break their own localhost loops. It is the first resource I am sharing. For those who hate the spotlight but want to launch products, how are you handling distribution? I would love to hear your experiences. submitted by /u/g_perales [link] [comments]
