Do I need a Validator+Node setup for copy-trading or is a paid gRPC provider like helius better?

Hi there, I am trying to figure how to set up my infra for a copy trading bot! I am trying to buy when the Dev sells, so the speed would be quite crucial here since there are others doing the same there. My main concern is how to ingest account data (GPA) the fastest, thus my next questions: - Does a node without a validator make sense here? AFAIK validators with the highest weight receive the data fastest, so without a super beefy setup it does not make sense, no? - Does hosting a node or Validator+Node for a few thousand$ even make sense when there are Shredstream gRPC solutions from providers like helius going around for 500$ monthly (which correct me if I am wrong - faster)? submitted by /u/FlippyCR [link] [comments]

for speed-obsessed copy trading on solana, a bare node won't give you an edge — validators with stake weight see data first. shredstream or yellowstone from helius/jito is faster and cheaper than running your own infra unless you're a validator yourself.

gm anon, saw your post about copy trading infra — solid questions. ngl running a node just for speed doesn't really make sense when shredstream exists, you'd be burning cash for marginal gains. wevolv3 helped me sort out similar infra decisions before, they really get the solana dev side. want me to intro you to their team? they might have some ideas for your setup.
