Startup ecosystems / accelerators that charge a commitment fee to join: is this "right"? [I will not promote]

I'm a founder and recently spoke with an organization that liked our startup and invited us to join their ecosystem. Instead of investing directly, they charge a relatively small "commitment fee" to become part of the network and access mentorship, introductions, and potential fundraising support.
